The longest a baby has been overdue was 375 days.

A 25 year old California woman named Beulah Hunter carrier her baby daughter, named Penny Diana in 1945 for 375 days, which was over a year or around 100 days longer than a typical pregnancy.

There was also a woman from Hunan province, Wang Shi China in 2016 who made international headlines after a pregnancy that reportedly had lasted 17 months.

Doctors had monitored her condition and postponed the cesarean sections because the fetus had been developing slower than normal.

And Joanne King in the UK documented in natural birthing circles had famously gave birth naturally to her second baby at 43 weeks and 3 days.

Going past 42 weeks in pregnancy is often considered high risk as the placenta might not function optimally.

Some babies go so overdue for several reasons, which include maternal factors, previous post term babies, the sex of the baby, the baby being the first baby, genetics and the due date can just be incorrect.

The exact cause of babies going so overdue and being born past their due date is not usually known, although babies being porn past their due date or going so overdue is not a result of anything that the mother did.

Babies going so overdue and being born past their due date is actually highly normal, especially first mothers giving birth for the first time.

A due date for a baby to be born is just an estimate, and if the due date was calculated based on a late ultrasound or if the mother's menstrual cycles are irregular, the baby may simply be right on schedule for being born.

Hereditary also plays a large role in when the baby is gonna be born.

If the mother or the sister of the pregnant woman had post term pregnancies then the pregnant women is also more likely to have post term pregnancies as well.

First time pregnancies also often tend to last longer, with around half of first time mothers giving birth by 40 weeks and 5 days.

And male babies also have a slightly higher tendency to stay past the due date before being born.

And even having gone past your due date in a previous pregnancy also increases the odds of going past your due date in future pregnancies significantly.

And even being over the age of 30, having a higher body mass index or even (obesity) or a genetic predisposition can also delay the onset of labor and lead to a baby being overdue.

It's very common for a baby to be overdue.

It is actually very common for pregnant women to go beyond their due date when giving birth.

In fact, only about 5 per cent of women actually give birth on the exact date they are due.

Most babies arrive between 37 weeks and 41 weeks of pregnancy, but usually within a week either side of their expected due date.
