Apples don't taste as good anymore due to being picked too soon and due to the time they spend in transportation and storage before they reach the store and the fact that the apples have a waxy coating on them and preservatives.

Apples contain a natural wax coating although some apples also have additional food grade wax added to preserve them even further.

The reason American fruits are so tasteless is because they are picked too soon and are also filled with chemicals which preserve them.

In America the unique flavor of vegetables and fruits never gets to shine like they should because the fruits and vegetables are separated from their parent plants too soon so that they can be shipped long distance and stored long term.

Frozen and canned produce and fruits are also sometimes shopped as alternatives, but they also have their problems.

Also Americans like their produce big, and big fruit is more efficient to grow, growers do everything they can to supersize their fruit, even at the expense of flavor.

They do this through breeding.

Most fruits and vegetables in North America aren't GMOs.

Dried fruits tend to be the most unhealthy, as they contain more carbs, sugar, and calories per serving than fresh fruits.

Spending more time in transport/storage leads to fruit having a blander taste as flavor rich compounds break down before the fruit even arrives at stores.
