Molasses can and does eventually go bad.

If the molasses remains sealed the molasses is god for up to 10 years.

However once opened the molasses typically only lasts for a few years to 5 years.

You do not need to refrigerate molasses, with the exception of unsulfured molasses.

Since this can ferment, it should be kept refrigerated, unless you go through it fairly quickly.

Keeping regular molasses in the fridge would make it very thick and difficult to pour.

Molasses is good for a variety of things such as adding to foods, baked goods, bbq sauce and also for use as constipation relief, lowering blood pressure, laxative etc.

Although molasses is not very sweet on its own, molasses loves a sweet buddy to balance out its earthiness, like brown or white sugar in sauces or bourbon in glazes and marinades.

You can add molasses to waffle or pancake batters, stir it into smoothies, shakes, applesauce, or a warm glass of milk, or use it to sweeten coffee.

Molasses is good for you in moderation.

Although when consumed in excess the molasses could be bad for you and cause weight gain and other health issues.

But when eaten or consumed in moderation the molasses is actually pretty healthy for you.

Molasses is good for high blood pressure and it's been shown that molasses including blackstrap molasses can help lower your blood pressure, regulate your blood pressure, treat anemia, relieve constipation and support bone as well as hair health.

The difference between molasses and blackstrap molasses is in the way it's produced and the amount of times it gets boiled.

Light or regular molasses is produced after the second boiling.

Blackstrap molasses is what comes from a third boiling, and it's very bitter.

You'll usually see it used in baked beans or barbecue sauce.

Molasses has a red to amber tone and a bright, acidic sweetness.

Blackstrap Molasses is inky, salty, and bitter.

Blackstrap Molasses is good for anemia and it can help prevent anemia.

One tablespoon of blackstrap molasses contains 20% of the iron you need each day.

Anemia is a condition that results in a lack of healthy red blood cells and is often caused by iron deficiency.

Blackstrap molasses contains many essential and vital vitamins and minerals, such as iron, calcium, magnesium, vitamin B6, and selenium.

All those vitamins and minerals help to keep your bodies internal organs working correctly and healthy.

Blackstrap Molasses can help give you glowing skin and glossy hair, help prevent and even cure Anemia or Iron Deficiencies, help build strong bones, help with PMS, reduce stress, detox your body, reduce inflammation, lower blood pressure, and maintain your blood sugar levels.

Another benefit of Blackstrap Molasses is it works as a natural laxative as well which can help get your bowels moving when you're constipated.

Consuming blackstrap molasses in moderation should not cause much if any weight gain and is healthy for you.

However if you do consume too much of the blackstrap molasses then it could cause weight gain eventually however it is unlikely to cause you to gain much weight fast.

Taking blackstrap molasses in moderation is actually a good way to increase your energy levels and help you lose weight.

It can help keep you feeling full to prevent you from eating more foods which help keeps your calories down.

Consuming blackstrap molasses can also detox your body as it's a good antioxidant.

The recommended dosage of blackstrap molasses is 18 milligrams per day which is around 1 tablespoon of blackstrap molasses per day.

However taking 2 tablespoons of blackstrap molasses per day is okay as well.

Blackstrap molasses is a nutritious byproduct of sugarcane production.

Unlike refined sugar, it's naturally rich in antioxidants, iron, calcium, magnesium, potassium, phosphorus, and vitamin B6.

As such, it may relieve constipation, help treat anemia, and support bone and hair health.
