Canadian bacon is not bad for you in moderation.

Canadian Bacon is actually more healthy for you than regular bacon is and it's a healthier variety of bacon.

Still Canadian Bacon is high in fat and grease so it can be unhealthy when consumed in excess.

Canadian bacon is still considered high in fat (40% of calories come from fat) as well as high in sodium and cholesterol—but it's a significant improvement on the alternative and is therefore easier to incorporate into a healthy living plan.

Canadian Bacon is a processed meat and too much processed meats can be bad for your health and raise your blood pressure, clog arteries and can lead to heart attacks, strokes etc.

But in moderation it's okay to eat processed meats.

Processed meats are any meats that aren't fresh.

People typically think of processed meat as only referring to pork and beef, but this category can also include poultry (chicken, turkey, duck) and fish.

This includes sausages, hot dogs, corned beef, beef jerky, canned meat, meat sauces, lunch meats and bacon.

Canadian bacon is more like ham than the streaky cured and smoked strips of bacon that most of us are used to.

American bacon comes from the fatty belly of the pig while Canadian bacon is typically cut from the loin.

As such, it's much leaner than belly bacon and comes in rounded slices rather than strips.

Back bacon is a cut of bacon that includes the pork loin from the back of the pig.

It may also include a portion of the pork belly in the same cut.

It is much leaner than side bacon made only from the pork belly.

Back bacon is derived from the same cut used for pork chops.
