Food that tastes like acetone could be bad.

If it's only a certain food you eat that tastes like acetone then the food may have just gone rancid as some foods such as bread and other foods can get an acetone taste or acetone smell to them when they go bad or rancid.

Or if all food you eat tastes like acetone it could be a sign of diabetes.

You may also have Keto Breath.

Keto breath produces a distinct taste or odor in the mouth that's different from ordinary halitosis or bad breath.

Some people describe keto breath as having a metallic taste.

In addition to a funny taste in the mouth, keto breath can be fruity-smelling or have a strong odor that's similar to nail polish remover.

If your breath smells like acetone -- the same fruity scent as nail polish remover -- it may be a sign of high levels of ketones (acids your liver makes) in your blood.

It's a problem mainly of type 1 diabetes but also can happen with type 2 if you get a serious condition called diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA).

If you think you may be experiencing diabetic ketoacidosis you should see a doctor as it can be a serious condition and be deadly.

Diabetes has killed some people and they didn't even know they had diabetes.
