Water does not expire and lasts forever.

However bottled water expires because of the plastic bottle that eventually leeches chemicals into the water but the water itself if not in the bottle would be good forever.

So it's best to drink the water before expiration if it's bottled water.

Water is a natural substance and does not go bad, however the plastic water bottle will degrade over time and begin to leach chemicals into the water, which is why it is always important to choose BPA free bottled water.

After long-term storage, the bottled water's appearance, smell or taste may change somewhat, but the water will still be safe to consume, says the FDA.

And while bottled water manufacturers are permitted to put expiration dates on their labels, these dates are meant to be indicators of quality, not safety.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), which regulates the bottled water industry, does not require a shelf life for bottled water.

Bottled water can be used indefinitely if stored properly, but they recommend no more than two years for non-carbonated water, and one year for sparkling water.

Unopened water bottles are still unsafe to drink once they've been left out in the sun.

Many brands of water bottles contain BPA and similar chemicals that have been linked to health problems affecting the brain and other organs.
