Some people will setup and use home web servers and internet switches for media servers in their home or just because they love working with web servers and internet switches.
I have a few web servers at home in a room in a rack that I use for testing purposes and for saving files on and accessing files when away from home.
This way I keep my files on my own servers as an extra back up and I have it so that I can FTP into them and access the files and work with them from any location.
It saves space on my own computer and I can also watch videos from the servers from any location I am as well.
I really enjoy working with the web servers and so I like having physical web servers to work on instead of just working on a a server that I never get to see.
I do however host my websites from a data center though and not at home but for testing and hosting some files for my personal use I use the web servers at home.
