Onions whether peeled or unpeeled do not attract or absorb bacteria.

Onions do not become poisonous when unpeeled and left out of the refrigerator.

I've cut onions up halfway and then forgot to refrigerate the rest of the onion but it was still good the next day and never made me sick.
