The Cream of Mushroom was the first soup to hit the store shelves.

The year 1869 is when Campbell's Soup company started.

The Campbell's Soup company was started and founded in the year 1869 by Joseph A Campbell.

That is where the Campbell's name came from and why it's called Campbell's Soup.

The Campbell's Soup Company was originally called the Joseph A Campbell Preserve Company and made canned tomatoes and vegetables, jellies, soups, condiments and minced meats.

Then later on it branched out and got bigger and more popular and sales skyrocketed due to the popularity of the soup and the company changed the name to Campbell's Soup company which they are still named.

The Campbell's Soup company is a very large company with a huge number of employees now although it started out as a small business.
