working in a Nursing home is very emotionally tiring. After a while you 'burn out'. The people who work there are not paid all that much and the work is hard enough. Lots of lifting, washing, changing, unpleasant things to do.

But beyond that it's a sad place. A lot of the elderly are there because no one is left who cares about them. They are waiting to die, lonely, they're usefulness over, the sense of self worth gone, all choices taken from the, even their own things mostly gone.

They're left thinking 'after I worked hard and did what I thought I was supposed to do, this is my reward? '
So how can the ppl taking care of them possible avoid being affected by all the sadness.
Waiting to die is no fun. Hope you don't have to do it for a long time

You'll certainly realize what they're thinking about them when you get to that point in your life.

You might see in commercials or brochures that people are happy and having a great time. But when you go see one you'll see that the elderly people in them are not so happy.

They're just there feeling useless and waiting to die.

I don't want to be put in one and will take my own life before I go in one.
