Cream Cheese has gone bad if the cream cheese has dried out or completely separated, or if the cream cheese gives off a sour or funny odor.

When cream cheese has gone bad you can usually tell by just smelling it or looking at it.

Cream cheese when it goes bad will smell bad, have mold, may change in color to a gray or brownish color and sometimes the bad cream cheese may also become hard.

Unopened cream cheese will last for at least one month past the expiration date.

However once you open the pack of cream cheese it will only last for up to 10 days.

So if you open the cream cheese be sure to use it within 10 days or it will spoil and make you sick even when refrigerated.

You can freeze the cream cheese and it will last for up to a year but when freezing cream cheese just be aware that frozen cream cheese loses it's texture and taste and can become crumbly.

But if you're using the frozen cream cheese in baking and cooking recipes then you won't notice the texture or taste change and the crumbly cream cheese won't be an issue.

If the cream cheese is bad it will usually be moldy, smell bad or start becoming hard.

If so throw it out.
