Oysters do sorta taste a bit like clams.
However in my opinion oysters have a more smooth and buttery taste while clams have a more briny and pungent taste to them.
Both oysters and clams are delicious though but I prefer oysters over clams.
Some Clams do have pearls but most clams do not contain any pearls.
If you find a clam that has pearls in it then that is a rare thing to find.
Most pearls are produced by Oysters and not clams.
A Bushel of Clams contains 400 Clams.
If you need to have a bushel of clams then you would need at least 400 clams to get a bushel of clams.
However the amount of clams in a bushel can also vary depending on the type of clams and so if you have topneck clams there would be only 200 clams in a bushel and if you have littleneck clams then there would be 400 clams in the bushel.
Clams that are fresh and good should never smell fishy.
If you have clams that smell fishy then they are no good and should not be cooked or eaten.
Clams smelling fishy is an indicator of the clams spoiling.
Also clams should be only killed to eat when ready to cook and if the clam has already died then it grows bacteria and should not be cooked or eaten.
The smell and aroma of fresh and good clams be a smell that is like the ocean and salty air and the clams should be clean and briny looking.
Clams should be soaked before cooking them to allow the clam time enough to push out sand as well as salt water out of their shells.
Soak the clams in the water for 20 minutes which is enough time for the clams to filter water and take in fresh water and get rid of the sand and salt water.
Also Clams are heart healthy.
When you eat clams you can help improve your heart health and lower your cholesterol levels as well.
Clams are a great source of and are high in selenium and niacin which is a B vitamin that has the potential to not only boost your HDL (healthy cholesterol), but also lower your LDL (bad cholesterol), and mussels (which are a type of clam) are especially high in protein, low in fat, and a great source of omega-3 fatty acids.
Omega 3 fatty acids are not only good for your heart health but they are also good for your brain.
Foods such as Clams and other fish and sea food has been shown in studies to improve your brain health.
Fish is known as the brain food and eating fish, clams and other sea foods can potentially prevent a person from developing dementia.
Fish and clams and other seafood is also great for those who already suffer from partial dementia as it can help improve your brain health.
Clams can potentially prevent heart disease, heart attacks, strokes, blood clots etc.
