The mold that is on mushrooms is usually safe to eat as long as the mushroom is not completely moldy.

If the mushroom has just a little bit of mold on it then it's usually safe to eat it even with the mold on it however I would recommend removing the moldy part of the mushroom and only eating the rest of the mushroom without the mold.

The moldy part of the mushroom will not taste very good anyway so you would not want to eat it because although edible it would be terrible tasting.

Mushrooms are a type of fungi just like mold is and the edible mushrooms are very healthy for you and you're actually eating fungus and bacteria.

But that type of fungus and bacteria is good for you.

Not all mushrooms are edible though and some mushrooms are poisonous but the mushrooms you buy in the stores are edible and healthy.

If any mushrooms I have grow a little mold on them I either throw them out or remove the mold at least.

I've tasted mold and it's terrible tasting.

So in short can you get sick from eating moldy mushrooms?

Unlikely because the mold on mushrooms is an edible mold.

The toxin is produced by the fungi, which are in the same family as molds.

Mushroom poisoning is caused by the consumption of raw or cooked mushrooms, which are higher-species of fungi. Most mushrooms that cause human poisoning cannot be made safe by cooking, canning, freezing, or any other processing.

Furthermore, can you eat mushrooms with fungus?

Usually not.

A dangerous fungus could grow on an otherwise edible mushroom.

nd generally old edible fungi are not so good anyone. Usually not.

Also know, what happens if you eat something with mold on it?

Ingesting a small amount of mold isn't likely to cause you any harm.

However, mold itself can trigger an allergic reaction in those who are susceptible, and certain molds produce poisonous substances (mycotoxins) that can make you sick. When you eat a bite of toxic mold, though, effects can vary.

What if I accidentally ate moldy bread?

The short answer is no, you're probably not going to die from eating mold; you'll digest it like any other food, and as long as you've got a relatively healthy immune system, the most you'll experience is some nausea or vomiting due to the taste/idea of what you've just eaten.
