When storing shallots the shallots should be kept and stored in dark, cool, dry, well-ventilated places.

When shallots are stored properly they will keep for up to a month before the shallots go bad.

The best way to store shallots is to put them in the refrigerator which is a cool dark place although not ventilated the coolness of the refrigerator will help keep the shallots from going bad so quick.

However when storing the shallots in the refrigerator they do not last as long but if you plan to use the shallots within about 2 weeks then refrigerating the shallots is a good idea.

If you want to keep the shallots longer than 2 weeks then just keep them in a cool dark ventilated place.

Shallots can also be stored in the freezer in bags or freezer safe containers and when stored in the freezer the shallots should last a few months.

Shallots are best eaten and used fresh though but sometimes we need to keep the shallots longer which is okay.
