The ice crystals on the food may make the food taste different but it's not harmful to the food if it has ice crystals on the food.
When food is frozen a small layer of ice crystals on the frozen food including ice cream is normal and the food will remain safe to eat.
However larger ice crystals can drastically change the taste of the food but it's still safe to eat food with larger ice crystals on the food.
Just remove the ice crystals and you can eat the food safely without worry.
