Yes you can get copyrighted for sound effects on Youtube or other places.

Some sound effects are copyrighted which means you can get a copyright claim and be made to take the video down or stop use of the sound effects.

But some sound effects are in the public domain which means they are not copyrighted and anyone can use the public domain sound effects in videos without worry about getting a copyright strike or copyright claim against them.

If you want to use sound effects in a Youtube video you're making then make sure the sound effect is not copyrighted.

Sometimes the sound effects are copyrighted and sometimes the sound effects are not copyrighted.

If you do get a copyright claim and the sound effect is indeed copyrighted then the best thing to do is just remove the video and delete the sound effect if possible.

You can then find another non copyrighted sound effect that you can use or just leave the sound effect out of the video.
