Yes you can use baking powder instead of baking soda in a recipe.

To use baking powder instead of baking soda in a recipe just use more baking powder in the recipe than you would the baking soda.

You need to use three times the amount of baking powder as you would the baking soda in the recipe to get the proper amount of baking powder added to the recipe.

So for example if your recipe calls for 1 teaspoon of baking soda then you would use 3 teaspoons of baking powder in the recipe.

So just use three times the amount of baking powder as you would baking soda in the recipe and you'll be fine.
