To keep hot dogs from splitting when you cook them take a toothpick or fork and poke holes in the hot dog all over it.
The holes you poke in the hot dog will allow steam to escape from the hot dog and prevent the hot dogs from splitting open when cooked.
Cook the hot dogs over indirect heat and be sure to flip the hot dogs over every few minutes while they are cooking.
When you boil the hot dogs they usually do not split open unless cooked too long.
Hot dogs are already cooked so they only need to be heated.
But by poking the holes in the hot dog or even cutting slits in the hot dogs helps prevent the hot dogs from splitting when cooking them.
