Yes you can over cook a hot dog.

Hot dogs are already cooked so you only need to really heat them up before they are ready to eat.

If you over cook the hot dog it will usually swell up and split open or may burn to a crisp depending on how you cook them.

All you really have to do is heat up the hot dogs and they will be ready to eat which takes at most 5 to 10 minutes depending on how you cook them.

Cooking hot dogs takes between 1 to 3 minutes depending on how well done you like the hot dogs.

On the grill the hot dogs may take 4 to 5 minutes or a bit longer depending on how you like the hot dogs to be.

Hot dogs are already cooked and so they are already done no matter how long you cook them.

Usually it only takes a few minutes of cooking the hot dogs for them to be ready to eat.

Just watch the hot dogs closely because they can be cooked too much and burn and when the hot dogs cook too long they can also split.

If you have regular beef hot dogs then they may or may not be cooked already depending on the hot dogs you buy.

But the cheaper packs of hot dogs are actually already cooked and ready to eat and can be eaten right out of the package.

But it's best to heat the hot dogs up either by boiling them, grilling them, deep frying the hot dogs etc.

Once you cook the hot dogs for a few minutes they should be ready to eat.
