Raw chicken in the refrigerator is only safe for around 2 to 3 days at most and if you need to keep the raw chicken longer than 3 days you should freeze it instead.
When frozen the chicken will last for around 6 months to a year as the freezer temperatures keep bacteria from growing on the raw chicken.
Cooked Chicken will last around 7 days in the refrigerator but raw chicken goes bad sooner in the refrigerator because the refrigerator doesn't keep the chicken cold enough to keep all the bacteria from growing on it.
