A raw turkey should last for 2 to 3 days in the refrigerator before it goes bad.
If you want to keep the raw turkey longer than a few days you have to freeze the turkey instead.
When frozen the turkey will last for a year or longer but after a few months to about 6 months the turkey is not as fresh and doesn't taste as good but it's still safe to eat after all that time.
When I prepare a turkey for Christmas or Thanksgiving I remove the turkey from the freezer 2 days before I need to cook it.
That way the turkey has enough time to thaw out in the refrigerator and then all I have to do is pop the turkey in the oven and bake it.
Baking a Turkey takes around 20 minutes per each lb of the Turkey so it can take as long as 3 to 4 hours to cook a turkey in the oven at 350 F depending on the size of the turkey.
