Putting warm or hot food into your refrigerator is okay to do and won't harm your refrigerator because the refrigerator will kick on and start cooling the food down when the internal temperature of the refrigerator gets warm enough.
But bacteria can grow on the food in the refrigerator if the food is not cool enough when you put it in the refrigerator however the food when sitting out could also cause bacteria to grow at the warm temperatures.
That's just what the food and safety commission says about the food and refrigerators.
You could place the hot food in the freezer for 30 minutes to cool the food down faster and then place it in the refrigerator.
I allow really hot food to cool down for at least 30 minutes and then place it in the refrigerator to keep it from spoiling if I'm not eating the food at that moment.
Most times though whenever I cook food it's eaten within 30 minutes or so of cooking it because I normally cook the food when it's near the time to eat.
But sometimes I'll cook food and then take it to a picnic or other event and then I'll refrigerate it before I take it to the event or picnic to keep it safe.
