A computer and internet firewall does help somewhat at protecting your computer and internet connection from computer and internet network viruses.

But the firewall doesn't prevent all viruses from getting to your computer so it's still possible for your computer to be infected with a virus even when you have a firewall.

A firewall is essentially a barrier who's job is to mainly protect your network from non trusted internet connections that could be trying to hack into your network or your computer system to spread viruses and potentially get information from your computer.

You still do need to install antivirus software on your computer to detect and prevent some viruses on your computer.

Also avoid going to non trusted websites that could be malicious or have malware on them and make sure you're typing in the correct domain name or going to the correct domain name.

Sometimes it's easy to misspell a domain name to a website and get to a malicious website.
