If you do not have any Old Bay Seasoning and the recipe calls for Old Bay Seasoning then you could use Chesapeake seasoning as a substitute for Old Bay Seasoning.

However if you do not have that either you can make a good substitute for Old Bay Seasoning using the recipe below if you have the ingredients.

To make your own substitute for Old Bay Seasoning you use the ingredients listed below.

  • 2 tablespoons celery salt.
  • 1/4 teaspoon paprika.
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground black pepper.
  • 1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper.
  • 1 pinch dry mustard.
  • 1 pinch ground nutmeg.
  • 1 pinch ground cinnamon
  • 1 pinch ground cardamom
  • 1 pinch ground allspice
  • 1 pinch ground cloves
  • 1 pinch of ground ginger.

Add all those ingredients together in a bowl and then you'll have a wonderful homemade old bay seasoning substitute that will work just as good or even better than the store bought old bay seasoning.
