Although most people say that meat is only good for a few days past the freeze by date that really isn't true.

Meat as long as it's been frozen is safe to eat for 6 months to a year past the freeze by date or the use by date.

I buy meat on sale and stock up on it and fill my freezer up with meats and keep the meats for 6 months to a year and sometimes even 2 years past the freeze by date and the use by date.

The meat just is not as fresh as it was before but it's still very safe to eat as long as it's been frozen all the time.

So don't throw the meat out just because it's past it's use by date or freeze by date as long as it smells good and is not spoiled.

You'll know if meat is spoiled by a change is texture and possibly a slimy feeling as well as a foul smell that will make you want to vomit or make you vomit.

As long as the texture is okay though and the smell is good then it's safe to eat as long as you've kept the meat frozen.
