The foods bisque and chowder are similar but they are different and the main difference between bisque and chowder is that bisque is smooth while chowder is thicker and chunky.

Chowder is also usually filled with pieces of vegetables, seafood and/or meat and chowder also usually includes milk or cream, and gets its thick texture from vegetables such as potatoes.

The soup bisque is a smooth, creamy, highly seasoned soup of French origin that is classically based on a strained broth (coulis) of crustaceans.

Bisque can be made from lobster, langoustine, crab, shrimp, or crayfish.

Both bisque and chowder are soups but are different types of soups made in different ways.
