My DSL Internet Modem has a burning smell to it

My DSL internet modem has started producing a plastic like burning smell that seems to be coming from the inside of it?

Is this DSL internet modem safe?

It's probably most likely dust causing the burnt smell in the modem.
My modem starts smelling like burnt plastic as well but goes away after awhile.

If you're concerned though it won't hurt anything to unplug it when you're not using it. Better to be safe than sorry and start a house fire.

But your modem is probably perfectly fine. A lot of electronics can give off that dust burning smell.

My DSL Modem has been having the burning smell to it too. I replaced it a year ago and the new ones started doing the same thing.

I think it's just dust build up. Or capacitors making the burning smell.
