When you hear about MAC addresses in computers the MAC address stands for Media Access Control and has nothing to do with MAC computer themselves.

The MAC address or "Media Access Control" address is the address of a device which is used as a unique identifier that is assigned to a network interface controller.

The MAC address is used for communications within a network segment and it is used as a network address for most IEEE 802 network technologies, including Ethernet, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth.

The MAC address is like your IP address that allows your computer to communicate with the internet and other computers on the internet but instead your MAC address is only used locally to allow your computer to communicate with your router and other devices in your home.
