When you freeze cream cheese and need to thaw it or soften it after freezing it you can place the cream cheese in the microwave for 10 to 20 seconds on defrost which should be long enough to soften the cream cheese enough to use it.
You can also place the cream cheese in a sealed container and then place the sealed container in some hot water which can help the cream cheese slowly thaw and soften.
But using the microwave on the defrost setting for 10 to 20 seconds will thaw and soften the cream cheese faster than it would in the water.
