Chicken when frozen takes quite a long time to thaw out especially if you're thawing the chicken out in the refrigerator instead of the microwave.
Thawing frozen chicken in the microwave might only take 2 to 3 hours or less depending on how much chicken you're thawing.
But if you place the frozen chicken in the refrigerator to thaw it can take as long as 24 hours for the chicken to thaw and be ready to cook.
So I would recommend removing the chicken from the freezer 24 hours before planning to cook it and place it in the refrigerator to thaw.
You could sit the frozen chicken on the counter for an hour or 2 to allow it to thaw some and then place it in the refrigerator to thaw the rest of the way.
