Slow Cookers or Crockpots are designed to cook slowly but the crockpot should begin heating up immediately as soon as you turn it on.

But for the slow cooker or crockpot to come up to full cooking temperature it can take around an hour to an hour and a half.

Then the slow cooker or crockpot will continue to cook for 6 to 8 hours or longer depending on what kind of food you're cooking in the slow cooker or crockpot.

I find that for most of my food it takes 8 hours at most to fully cook food including beans in my slow cooker.
