Chocolate doesn't have to be refrigerated but it's not bad to refrigerate chocolate as long as you wrap the chocolate in plastic wrap and put the chocolate in a sealed container to avoid the chocolate absorbing any other odors in the refrigerator.
Refrigerating the chocolate can make the chocolate last longer and stay fresher.
But even when chocolate is not refrigerated and goes stale it's still safe to eat but just doesn't taste as fresh.
