The average desktop computer uses around 200 Watts of electricity per hour which is the equivalent of 2 100 watt light bulbs being lit for 1 hour.

At 200 watts per hour your desktop computer would consume 4,800 watts in a 24 hour period.

At 10 cents per KWH which is what I pay for my electricity my desktop computer would use roughly $0.50 per day or around $15.00 per month which is not that costly to keep my computer going all the time.

When you're maxing out your computer then the power supply could use 1,000 watts per hour such as running powerful games etc but for just browsing the internet or using your computer you're likely not gonna use more than 200 watts per hour.
