Philadelphia does need to be refrigerated to prevent spoilage.

Philadelphia cream cheese and other cream cheeses does need to be refrigerated or it will spoil within a few hours.

Always keep cream cheese including Philadelphia cream cheese refrigerated if not eating it or using it within a few hours.
