It's not recommended to place Styrofoam into a microwave since it has the potential to melt and ruin the food as well.
However I have placed Styrofoam to go boxes inside my microwave but only for a minute or two while watching it carefully for any signs of melting.
If it started melting then I'd immediately turn the microwave off before it melted too bad.
