If you want your apples to ripen you should leave them at room temperature so they get sweeter and softer.
Apples produce ethylene which means the apples will continue to ripen at room temperature.
Apples do best in an environment with 90 percent humidity.
However in the refrigerator the apples will last longer than at room temperature.
But if you're eating them pretty quickly then it's best to leave the apples at room temperature.
Of course once you cut the apples up you should refrigerate them and eat them within around 2 to 3 days.
If you store your apples in the refrigerator they should be placed in the crisper drawer.
