The reason why pans should not touch in the oven is because when pans touch in the oven it disrupts the even heat circulation and can lead to uneven cooking and hot spots on the food.

And in some cases the pans touching can also prevent the baked goods from rising up properly as a result of the restricted airflow between the pans.

When pans are close together they can also block the heat from reaching certain areas of the food and cause uneven cooking.

Proper airflow between the pans in the oven is crucial for baking and allowing pans to touch in the oven can restrict the airflow and impact the baking process.

Allowing the pans to touch can also cause sticking and make them hard to remove.

Baking pans in the oven should not touch each other and there should be at least one inch between the pans and oven walls to allow for even heat circulation.

In very small ovens it might even be necessary to place the pans on two racks.

Oven-safe cookware is safe up to 500 degrees Fahrenheit, but some materials can only handle 350 degrees or less.

Avoid sudden temperature changes.

The parts of the pans that touch don’t get as much heat, so your food might end up cooking unevenly. Keeping a little space between pans lets the heat flow around them, which helps everything cook more evenly.
