Chef Boyardee changed his name from Hector Boiardi because many people had difficulty in pronouncing his Italian surname so he opted for the phonetic spelling which was easier for Americans to say essentially he anglicized his name to make it more marketable.

The main reason for the name change of Hector Boiardi is because customers and salespeople struggled with pronouncing the Boiardi name correctly.

Chef Boyardee known by his real name of Hector Boiardi passed away at the age of 87 in 1985.

Chef Boyardee canned pastas do still exist and is made by ConAgra Foods.

Chef Boyardee is a very popular brand of canned pasta and still features Chef Hector Boiardi on the label.

The Chef Boyardee pasta can be found in many grocery stores including Walmart.

The Chef Boyardee pasta brand was owned by American Home Foods and was eventually acquired by the conglomerate ConAgra Foods, which still owns the Chef Boy-Ar-Dee brand today.
