Eggs are rich in calcium as well as potassium and phosphorus.

Even the eggshells which are also edible are rich in calcium.

You can boost your calcium by taking calcium supplements and eating foods such as eggs and dairy foods like yogurt, cheese, soy products and even drinking milk.

Even some leafy green vegetables and nuts and seeds also contain some calcium.

Foods you can eat daily for calcium are Tofu with added calcium, soybeans, collard greens and turnip greens, soy milk or yogurt, fat free or low fat milk and cheese and breakfast cereals with added calcium.

Eggs are also good to eat for calcium as eggs are a good source of calcium as well as other key vitamins and minerals including iron and potassium.

When you have low calcium in the blood the condition is known as hypocalcemia.

Hypocalcemia is a condition in which the blood has too little calcium.

Hypocalcemia can be caused by lack of vitamin D. It can also signal a condition of the four small glands in the neck (parathyroid glands), the kidneys, or the pancreas.

Most cases of hypocalcemia have no symptoms.

In severe cases of hypocalcemia, symptoms include muscle cramps, confusion, and tingling in the lips and fingers.

Treatment for hypocalcemia includes calcium and vitamin D supplements.

If there's an underlying condition, that will also need treatment.

Calcium pills or supplements may also be used to restore your calcium to normal levels.

Vitamin D supplement can also help with low calcium levels.

People who have chronic hypocalcemia often take a vitamin D supplement along with calcium pills so that their bodies can properly absorb the calcium.

Severe hypocalcemia (Ca <1.9 mmol/L) is often considered an emergency because of a potential risk of cardiac arrest or seizures.

Certain drugs can also cause hypocalcemia.

Drugs such as rifampin (an antibiotic) as well as phenytoin and phenobarbital (anti-seizure drugs) can cause hypocalcemia.

Additionally, certain medicines that fight bone cancers and other bone issues are also linked to the condition.

These drugs include alendronate, ibandronate, risedronate, and zoledronic acid.
