Horse meat has a slightly sweet taste and tastes almost similar to beef.

Some people who have never eaten horse meat before cannot tell the difference in taste from beef and horse meat.

Horse meat from younger horses usually is a lighter color and older horses produce meat with a richer color and flavor.

When I first ate horse meat I could not tell the difference between the taste of the horse meat and beef I was used too.

I actually though I was eating beef at my dads place but he then told me that it was horse meat and I thought he was joking.

Horse meat is actually very good in taste and I actually enjoy it.

The reason horse meat is not widely eaten in the U.S. is because U.S. horse meat is considered unfit for human consumption because of the uncontrolled administration of hundreds of dangerous drugs and other substances to horses before slaughter and horses (competitions, rodeos and races), or former wild horses who are privately owned.

While it is not illegal for someone in most states to eat meat from horses, there are very strict rules surrounding its purchase.

It is illegal for someone in the United States to sell meat from a horse for commercial human consumption.

Horse meat is a bit sweet in taste.

Some think horse meat is a blend between beef (a cow) and venison (deer).

People use the horse meat similar to the way they use beef, putting it in sandwiches, or serving it in a slab.

The cooking time of horse meat is generally shorter than that of beef, in part because of its lean qualities.

Proponents of horse meat often refer to it as chevaline.

Compared to beef, horse meat contains similar levels of protein and much lower fat levels.
