Water is considered safe in plastic bottles for up to 2 years from the date it was bottled.
The water in the plastic bottle though is still safe past that date but it can leech plastics and chemicals from the bottle into the water.
Water does not expire like other drinks can but the water can change in taste the longer you keep it in the plastic bottle.
According to the US Food and Drug Administration, bottled drinking water doesn't require an expiration date.
There really is no actual shelf limit to bottled or jugged water although it's just the plastics that can degrade and be leeched into the water.
Just like water stored in jugs at home from regular tap water it should be refreshed after a few years.
The taste will just change in the bottled or jugged water but it will actually remain safe for human consumption.
The water we drink has been around for millions of years before we consumed it.
