Powdered Sugar and Confectioners sugar are indeed exactly the same thing and there's no difference between the two except for the name of the sugar.
It's a regional thing on what people call the powdered sugar and some call it powdered sugar while other people call it confectioners sugar.
There's also another name for Confectioners sugar which is 10X sugar which refers to the number of times the sugar was processed to become fine powdered sugar.
So when baking and needing powdered sugar it doesn't matter whether you use confectioners sugar or powdered sugar because they're both the exact same thing.
