The amount of cows and calves that are slaughtered for food in the United States per year is staggering.
Female calves are placed in the dairy herd to produce milk and when the milk production ends those female calves are then sent for slaughter.
So along with the cows and the female calves put together there's around 39 million cows slaughtered each year in the USA for our meat to eat.
