You don't have to wash fruits before eating them but if you buy the fruits from a store then I always wash the fruits off using apple cider vinegar to remove pesticides and other non natural residue that could be on the fruits.
If the fruit is off your own property that is fresh picked then there should be no residue to worry about although a bird could've pooped on it which was washed off so it would be a good idea to go ahead and wash that bacteria off as well.
Although people have eaten fruits and vegetables for years without washing them all the time but it's still a good idea to wash the fruits and vegetables before eating just to prevent getting sick from any bacteria that may reside on the fruits or vegetables.
