Some turkeys do come without giblets but some brands of turkeys such as Butterball turkeys contain giblets.
The giblets will be located in the cavity of the turkey and may either be in a plastic bag or paper bag and if they are in the paper bag they can be baked in the oven safely but if they are in plastic they need to be removed as the plastic bag can melt.
The giblets in a turkey are the heart, gizzards, and liver.
Gizzards which are the most versatile kind of giblet, can be folded into sauces or side dishes (before brining or cooking, remove the tough silverskin connecting the two muscles).
And the heart and liver giblets can be fried up as a snack or used to add subtle depth to sides or leftovers.
Giblets are basically any of the edible organs of fowl like turkey (as well as chicken, goose and duck).
Giblets generally include the liver, and can include the gizzard, neck, kidneys and heart.
Some people use the giblets in turkeys and other meats and others like myself just remove them and throw them out.
You can eat the giblets but I don't like them myself nor does my family so they go into the trash before I bake the turkey.
Always remove the giblets from the turkey before baking, roasting or deep frying or cooking the turkey.
However if you do forget to remove the giblets before roasting or cooking your turkey, all may not be lost.
Giblets wrapped in paper can cook safely inside the cavity of the turkey.
If the giblets are wrapped in plastic, however, the plastic may melt inside the turkey and release harmful chemicals.
Although it may not sound appetizing to some people, the giblets are considered to be excellent for adding extra flavor to your turkey roast dinner.
In traditional cooking, the giblets are valued for being a tasty and nutritious addition.
However, nowadays, many brands won't even include the giblets with their roasting birds.
