Does Adsense pay on impressions?

I have a website with 5,000 daily visitors and was wondering if Adsense pays on impressions too?

I know they pay per click but would I still earn money from the adsense ads being shown even if no one clicks on the ads?

You can earn money from impressions but the real income is from when people click on the ads.
