McDonald's does not own Chipotle.

However McDonald's did have a stake in Chipotle until 2006.

In 2006 McDonald's sold their stake in Chpotle so they no longer own or have any ownership or stakes in Chipotle.

However McDonald's did once own around 90 percent of Chipotle Mexican Grill.

And in 1998 McDonald's also invested in Chipotle that helped Chipotle grow from 14 locations to nearly 500 Chipotle locations in 7 years.

McDonald's sold it's stake in Chipotle to focus on their own restaurants.

As of now Chipotle is a publicly traded company and Chipotles shareholders are the Vanguard Group, State Street Corporation and BlackRock.

McDonald's has also invested in other restaurant companies that include Fazoli's Pret A Manger, Boston Market, Aroma Cafe and Donato's Pizza.

Chipotle bought back the franchised locations after the sale of it's stake in McDonald's and Chipotle now owns all of it's United States locations.

And Chipotle also opened it's first Chipotle location in Dubai in October of 2024.
