Your brewed coffee is oily due to the natural coffee oils from the coffee grounds that rise to the top of the cup.

Most often when your coffee becomes oily after brewing it means your coffee beans or coffee grounds are not as fresh as they were before.

In some cases hard water may cause oily coffee as well but it's most often from the coffee grounds or coffee beans themselves.

The oily residue and oily film in coffee is not harmful and it's okay to drink the coffee even with the oily film in it.

The mold in the coffee may also be blue green in color.

Coffee grounds usually mold with a musty odor and a white colored powder like mold.

Brewed coffee can be cloudy as a result of hard water or too much minerals in your water.

Cloudy coffee can also be the result of grinding the coffee beans too long.

The best way to get rid of hard water from your tap water is to use a water softener that filters out hard water minerals or use bottled water instead for making your coffee.

Drinking a cup of coffee a day is not bad.

In fact drinking a cup of coffee a day or even 3 to 4 cups of coffee a day is good for your health and can lower your risk of cancer, heart disease, stroke and much more.

Studies have shown that people who drink coffee daily have a lower risk of cancer, heart disease, stroke and usually live longer as a result.

Up to 400 milligrams (mg) of caffeine a day appears to be safe for most healthy adults.

That's roughly the amount of caffeine in four cups of brewed coffee, 10 cans of cola or two "energy shot" drinks.

Keep in mind that the actual caffeine content in beverages varies widely, especially among energy drinks.
