Plain popcorn without any added butter, sugar or salt is good for cholesterol.

However buttered or sugared or salted popcorn can be bad for cholesterol and raise your cholesterol levels.

Even caramel popcorn can be bad for cholesterol but plain popcorn is okay for cholesterol.

Popcorn is healthy as it's made from corn which is also healthy.

Popcorn contains fiber and also phenolic acids that are a kind of antioxidant.

Not only that but popcorn is also a whole grain that is an important food group which can reduce your risk of developing heart disease, hypertension and diabetes.

However adding butter and salt to the popcorn can make the popcorn unhealthy.

Eating too much buttered and salted popcorn could increase your risk of developing heart disease, heart attack, stroke, blood clots etc.

Because of popcorn's high fiber content, its low calorie count and its low energy density, popcorn is considered to be a food that can aid in weight loss.

For example, popcorn has been shown to make people feel fuller than a similar calorie amount of potato chips.

If you cook the popcorn in healthy oils, like olive oil and avocado oil, that are rich in monounsaturated fats (which help keep your heart healthy), a small amount of daily popcorn can be a good choice.

Just don't overdo it and make sure to stick to the recommended serving sizes.
