Does frozen broccoli need to be defrosted before cooking?

Frozen broccoli does not need to be defrosted or thawed out before cooking.

You can simply throw the frozen broccoli in the dish you're cooking or steam or boil the frozen broccoli without needing to defrost it.

You can eat fresh frozen broccoli without cooking it as fresh frozen broccoli is simply broccoli which can be eaten raw or cooked.

Frozen broccoli can smell weird because the broccoli when cut into florets releases a compound called sulforaphane that can give off a strong odor.

If the odor of your broccoli is mild then it's okay but if the odor is very strong and really unpleasant then it can be a sign that the frozen broccoli is at it's peak and should not be consumed.
